Peru Sightseeing

The Gardens of Machu Picchu

The city of Machu Picchu is located in the midst of a National Park. This area has been recognized as such due to the vast array of species and ecosystems that reside within it. On this tour we will walk through the botanical gardens of Mandor where you will be able to learn about the local flora and fauna by getting a look inside one of the most biodiverse places in the world.

Shortly after being picked up from your hotel we will begin the hike towards Mandor Valley. This hike takes about an hour and a half to complete and it will lead us directly to the gardens and waterfalls found deep within the heart of Mandor. During the first portion of the hike we will get to walk along railroad tracks, observe the Urubamba river from up close, and even some Inca terraces that are part of the Archaeological Complex of Machu Picchu. The second portion will lead us through the Mandor Garden trails. As we make our way through, our professional tour guides will share their knowledge of the area to help you discover the beauty of this natural reserve, inhabited by numerous species of birds, butterflies, orchids, and many other animals in danger of extinction.

At the end of the trail we will be met by beautiful waterfalls. At this point you will have time to relax, unwind, and most importantly, take in the beautiful scenery that lies before you. Taking pictures is encouraged and a dip in the water to cool off after the long hike is highly recommended! Upon returning you will have the option to visit the Butterfly Gardens of Machu Picchu.
