The Navel of the World Welcome to the city of Cusco, the ancient capital and spiritual center of the Incas, once considered “the navel of the world” and the center of the Tawantinsuyo Empire. This is the city where the four main roads that connected every corner of the empire originated. Get ready to discover the mystery of this city, its legends and religion, its rulers and construction techniques, its temples, streets and plazas, as well as the arrival of the Spaniards and the foundation of the Colonial Cusco.
We will begin our tour visiting the Qorikancha or Golden Temple, the most important Inca religious center. We will then visit the amazing city of Cusco, built on top of the foundations of Inca palaces. We will also visit the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral and admire its beautiful architectural design and colonial paintings.
Later on, we will board our bus that will take us to visit four nearby archeological centers. We will see the impressive buildings at Sacsayhuaman and learn about the construction techniques used by the Incas. We will then continue our journey to the ceremonial centers of Qenqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay.
